The Islamic Practice & Dawah Circle (IPDC) held its Annual General Meeting (AGM) for 2015 at the Slacks Creek Mosque Australian Unity Centre (AUC) on Saturday 19th & Sunday 20th of September. This was a historic event as, for the first time IPDC Queensland held the honour of being the host state. The Australian Unity Centre is the first site IPDC Queensland has established in Queensland and the first project that the IPDC established with the general Muslim Community.

The Hon. Cameron Dick MP, Queensland Health Minister (Middle), Dr. Akram Hossain IPDC QLD President & Chairman Australian Unity Centre (Right), Rafiqul Islam Central Ameer (Left)The AGM was opened by the Central Ameer Rafiqul Islam, who took the opportunity to thank each of the dignitaries who were invited as guests to participate in the event. Guests included The Hon. Cameron Dick MP (Member for Woodridge, Minister for Health of Queensland & Minister for Ambulance Services of Queensland), who reaffirmed his support for multiculturalism, as well as for the Muslim Community, in Queensland. There was also strong support from the Queensland Police Service, who provided reassurance to their ongoing commitment to the Muslim Community to provide protection against hate crime.

Following speeches by both IPDC and Visiting Guests, the IPDC and the AUC hosted a community lunch, allowing general interactions between the community and dignitaries.

By inviting members of the broader Australian Community, a new standard has been set for IPDC AGMs. In doing so IPDC can continue to help build bridges between all Australians. It is hoped that this will be continued for AGMs in the years to come.
